DNS Responses
Many DNS responses return the answer along with multiple entries about the name server(s) queried as well as additional information
The answer gives the domain name and IP address of the targeted host
An authoritative answer gives the domain name of authoritative name server(s) for the zone
An additional answer gives any other information that the name server thinks that you might need
- Typically, this is the domain names and IP addresses of the zone’s primary and secondary name servers
- This way, the client or querying server can cache this information
- All DNS responses include a TTL
- Tells the client or querying server how long the information may be cached
