Private networks - unroutable from the public Internet, routable within the private space, typically used with NATs

- 172.16/12
- 192.168/16
Autoconfiguration/linklocal
- unroutable off of the local link
- 169.254/16 minus the top and bottom class C
Loopback - unassigned, used for testing on hosts
Class D addresses
- Used for local or wide area multicasting
- Hosts “subscribe” to a multicast service by requesting traffic that it being sent to a particular class D address
